EPC - Group Wide.jpg

Chasing the Horizon logo.jpg...is an exciting new television series coming in 2010 centred around a group of five friends who will be throwing in the corporate towel to sail various exciting locations around Australia in the wake of some of histories most infamous Explorers, Pioneers and Convicts.

On a quest to raise $1m for the charity, the Crew will first embark on a race against time and the elements to sail the islands and eastern coastline of Australia on an experiential journey to uncover how Australia's greatest Explorers, Pioneers and Convicts helped shape history.

The Australian series begins with the richly deep history of Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay, and then the crew will navigate the treacherous waters of Bass Straight to the islands of Tasmania before heading north on the long journey up the east coast to uncover more about the great characters who discovered and settled Australia.

The focus of the series will be on the most infamous characters in each region that helped forge Australia as a new colony, the pioneers that established industry in new territory and the scoundrels that caused mayhem for a fledgling nation.

The series promises to delight the audience with a visual feast interlaced with richly interesting narrative by the crew about the historical characters of each region and their tales of triumph, tribulation and strife.

Throughout the journey the escapades and adventures of the crew will also be filmed from port to port to capture the challenges faced with living aboard a cramped yacht, surviving without their wives, bad weather, ocean sailing, navigation, equipment failure and the experiences and people they encounter.

When in port, the crew will be chatting with locals such as the town Mayor, historians, fishermen and other sailors, builders, ministers of local churches and others to learn how these Explorers, Pioneers and Convicts have influenced the birth of another one of Britain's ever expanding colonies.

Although the crew will experience the comfort of spectacular ports and inlets, the journey from destination to destination will be fraught with extremes of varying weather conditions.

Unpredictable winds and often dangerously rough seas will see the crew put through gruelling conditions that will test them as a team and the skills of the skippers, John and Alan, to keep the crew and the yacht safe and on course.

To achieve their goal, the crew will need to sail more than 3,000 kilometres in often highly dangerous and isolated waters.

The journey is a challenging race to remain on schedule and safely navigate from port to port if the crew are going to make the distance.

WHAT A GREAT CAUSE

Although not a key feature of the series, in the first year of production, all of the net sponsorship proceeds from the series will be donated to The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA).

In order to raise additional funds, the crew will also undertake various fund raising challenges such as yacht races in various locations with 100 percent of funds raised being donated to PCFA.
